343 fire fighters died on 9.11 - Please meet Henry
Firefighter Henry A. Miller Jr. had a lot to look forward to in his life. A longtime Massapequa
resident and cancer survivor, he was to celebrate his 53rd birthday and seventh wedding anniversary
with relatives and friends in October 2001. After 28 years of service with downtown Brooklyn's
Ladder 105, Miller was also considering retirement from the position he knew and loved, finally
yielding to repeated requests from his concerned wife.
But Miller was right across the bridge from the World Trade Center that fateful morning and, just as
he did after the terrorist trade center bombing in 1993, drove one of the company's hook and ladder
trucks to be with his colleagues among the first emergency personnel at the scene.
Miller never returned and is officially listed among the missing in 9/11 attack.
His relatives and friends want to remember him as the gentle and jovial fellow he was, a bulky man
who loved the sea, surfing and scuba diving, but who mostly saw himself as a firefighter, always
willing and ready to help.
Miller, whose father retired as a 38-year veteran of the department, had been injured in the line of
duty before, including the time when he suffered serious smoke inhalation trying to rescue people
after the 1993 bombing.
Miller was born in New York City and grew up in the Rosedale section of Queens. Although he started
studies to become an accountant at Manhattan's City College, he soon decided he wanted to follow in
his father's footsteps and become a firefighter.
He was of composed character, rarely raising his voice or losing his temper about anything,
relatives and friends said, a trait that fit well with his devotion to help those in need.
But he was also a fun-loving Irishman who knew where to get the best pizza on Long Island and in New
York City, and who loved practical jokes.
When Miller was diagnosed with cancer about eight years previous to his deah, he kept going with his
work and life, eventually beating the disease.
...
More than once, Miller had the opportunity to retire but couldn't see himself not helping
people....
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS HERO DIED SAVING THE LIVES OF OTHERS....
I do not know this hero - I truely wish I did. I am part of the Project 2996 - rememebering the
innocent victims of 9/11. The project is in place to try and keep these peoples memories alive - To
help ensure we do not forget. I have been assigned Henry - and by god I am so proud to be writing
this for him. May god bless you Henry wherever you may be.
Please light a candle or post a tribute to Henry - I am sure his family would appreciate the thought
- Thank you xx
To those who went up and did their jobs,
Our hearts will mourn, and we will weep.
To save those lives, you gave your all,
And on this day, 9/11, we shall always recall.
Once stood the World Trade Centre, so proud and tall,
And as those free world icons began to fall,
The nation and the world watched the towers in shock,
But we will again unite, and become a mighty rock.
With tears, horror and disbelief,
The greatest of anger and a heart full of grief.
Terrorists left America, "The Big Apple" - New York,
In hours of silence, unable to talk.
We will never forget and we never should,
Those skies are now empty, and rebuild, yes we could.
But to those who died and were taken that day
Our deepest respects and thanks are what now we should say.
To the land of the free,
And the home of the brave,
You did the most,
And your "Best" you gave.
Angels shed a tear, as they took you that day,
To heaven, and God, for you to now rest and lay,
You died in the service of a noble calling,
To the towers that fell, and the heroes that have fallen...
"You are gone from our touch, but never our hearts,
Gone from our sight, but never our memories"...
Rest in Peace, we will honour and remember you always
ALWAYS REMEMBERED XXX
GOD BLESS YOU ANGEL THINKING OF YOU TODAY AND ALL YOUR LOVING FAMILY LOVE FROM CHRISTINE ROBERT AND FAMILY XXXXX

THINKING OF YOU ALL
Hugs From Heaven
When you feel a gentle breeze
Caress you when you sigh
It's a hug from Heaven
From a loved one way up high.
If a soft and tender raindrop
Lands upon your nose
They've added a small kiss
As fragile as a rose.
If a song you hear fills you
With feeling of sweet love
It's a hug from Heaven
From someone up above.
If you awaken in the morning
To a bluebird's chirping song
It's music sent from Heaven
To cheer you all day long.
If little tiny snowflakes
Land upon your face
It's a hug from Heaven
Trimmed with Angel lace.
So keep the joy in your heart
If you're lonely my dear friend
Hugs that are sent from Heaven
A broken heart will mend.
